A place steeped in history. It is recommended that the audio guide be better organized to better align with the exhibition halls.

Why Visit the Castel Sant'Angelo?

For those intrigued by the secrets concealed within Rome, don your headphones and embark on a journey to unravel the rich history of Castel Sant'Angelo. This ticket, complete with an audio guide, allows you to leisurely explore Hadrian's Mausoleum – an iconic fortress nestled on the right bank of the Tiber River that has borne witness to the profound secrets of the Eternal City.

Throughout the tour, delve into the stories behind every nook and cranny of Castel Sant'Angelo, from the renowned bridge decorated with statues to the devastating plague that befell Rome in the 6th century A.D. Discover the fortress's pivotal role in the city and delve into the legends recounting the appearance of the archangel St. Michael at this very location.

The audio guide provides insights into the construction of Castel Sant'Angelo as a pantheon for Hadrian's imperial family. Uncover its transformation into a refuge for popes, aided by a clandestine tunnel connecting the castle's lower portion to the Vatican – a detail that may evoke memories of Robert Langdon's journey in Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons."

With your admission ticket, you'll be able to explore all the rooms spanning the 5 floors of Castel Sant'Angelo. From the ash chamber to the cells, Renaissance frescoes, and the terrace on the top floor, don't miss out on one of the most breathtaking views of Rome.
